The next step is to plane the blank so that the neck where the fingerboard will be attached and the peghead are completely flat and ready for the fingerboard to be glued on. This process brings up some nice grain and figure on this piece of cherry. Notice the flaw that has been revealed in this step of the process: a large knot filled with soft wood near where the fifth string will be(directly above the push tool). But don't worry; the final layout of the fingerboard can avoid this flaw.
