Here are the raw materials for a gourd banjo I am making: a piece of cherry for the neck that is 3 3/4x3 3/4x48 inches (I can make a whole one-piece neck out of this lumber, including the dowel stick), a piece of bubinga, a dense African hardwood for the fingerboard, a piece of ebony for the nut and tuners, a gourd that has been cleaned out and had the top cut off and made level, and a piece of heavy leather for the tailpiece.
